So you have gone out and engaged a new company to create the perfect looking website for you. You have got the brief done correctly , you have met with the design team and they have what you feel full filled the brief and delivered what you think is a unique looking, and stunning web design.

The question now arises and is very impotant; will this new web site create extra sales for your business. I mean will people who are looking for a product and or service and stumble across your site will suddenly drop every thing because of the design and make a purchase from you.

There are some schools of thought that would say no. people go online and will buy purely based on the price offered. This may be true in the case of a consumer buying a product that is generic and can be bought any where. If for example they are looking to buy a certain pwashing machine, they will obviously buy from the web site that has the cheapest price.

On the flip side if you are looking for a service then the design of a website comes heavily in to play. If for example you are looking for an architect you would clearly look for a site that is the most unique and stylish looking that reflects the character of the company and the personality of the work that they have done. You would want a site thats individual in nature and a site thats not template driven or a carbon copy of another site.

So you really have the break down into two components. If you have a product to sell that is fairly generic then the design is not as important as a company that has a sevice to offer. Again, if you do have a product to sell that is also unique and hi-end then you would want the web site to reflect this as well. Look at the boutique hi end Italian furniture web sites to get an idea of how a site should really fit the type of product it is selling. If you are a consumer on one of these sites you would expect to see a stylish very contemporary web site. If they see a cheap looking, budget basement bargain hunting type web site they will in most cases not end up buying from you . Remeber the rule of thumb is to design according to your business and to what your customer would expect.

The rise in demand of web design has results in a number of web designers offering web design services. The competition among the web designers is now neck and neck. Besides quality and punctuality, it is the additional services that can make a difference between you and other web designers. Some of the prominent additional services that you can offer and generate extra income are as follows.

- SEO and Marketing
After the web design is completed there is need for visitors to click, visit and finally buy what is being offered through the website. The primary purpose of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is to maximize the traffic and number of visitors to any website. After the work of web designing is completed and the website is hosted on the internet, its marketing and SEO actions are needed. Most of the clients hiring your web design services will need these services sooner or later. Since you have already been contracted for the web design work, try offering the SEO and marketing services at a discounted price included in the package.  You can offer or arrange for services related writing of press releases, blogs, ppc campaigns, and marketing through social networking websites.

- Offering print design services
Most of the businesses have a regular need of business cards, brochures and other stationary that is related to the print. If you can offer these services or arrange for them at a competitive rate then it is going to strengthen you professional relations with the company and at the same time generate extra revenue for you.

- Designing the Logo
There are some companies that need a logo when they are getting the website designers. There could be a few that may not have even thought about having a logo. As a web designer you can have a chance about pitching Logo design services to your clients. There could be some companies that need updating or changes in the logo. It is always better to clarify with the client whether the logo design charges are included in or excluded from the package. If excluded the prices should be mentioned clearly so that there is no misunderstanding later on.

- Maintenance
Every website sooner or later needs maintenance especially with reference to content. Even if you offer content management system along with the web design, there are clients that would be ready to pay extra money and get it done by you. On the other hand new clients are hard to come around. Call on your old clients and make them aware that you are offering maintenance services too. You have already had professional relationship with them and this is going to make them feel more comfortable. Your client does not have to waste time searching for a service provider and you earn some extra money.

Logo Design – The Quick And Ugly Vs. Slow And Right?

As a smart small business owner there might come times when you would feel an urge to rebrand your business image. Whatever your reasons may be but shifting your brand image is a tough decision and costs extra money to be spent on things like a logo design, a web redesign and publishing new materials, depending on your marketing scale and budget it could cost you a significant amount of money.

You have your reasons, but none of your reasons could ever be an excuse to rush into designing something as important as your logo design. Some businesses suddenly realize that they urgently need a logo design. They call in a logo design company and ask them to build them one as quickly as possible. They put pressure on the company and do not pay any serious consideration to how this rush could affect their business. A business might be in a hurry sometimes that’s ok but to rush into something like a logo design is the recipe for disaster.

How much time is enough for a Good Logo Design?

It depends on the skills of the artists you are working with, the information you provide them, the communication between you and the logo design company. If you have previously used some logos, or any art work for your business it is better to share all that work with your design artist so that they could build upon your existing image instead of creating a new one altogether. This strategy alone could save you a lot of time.

What is a right logo design?

The right logo design is the one that represents your business perfectly and more articulately with elegance and style. This logo symbolized your business mission, your company and values and it helps you gain customer loyalty. Your logo design should fit well into your workplace, your print or digital advertisements, your office stationary and your web design. It should also be scalable, reusable and make sure that you have full rights and control over the usage of this graphic.

What is a Wrong Logo Design?

A wrong logo design is the opposite of the right logo design. A wrong design does not represent your business and does not deliver your message to the viewer. It distorts your image and pushes your customers away. A wrong logo design might give the feeling of déjà vu to your customers as they would feel that they had seen such logos before. Viewers of your logo might find it uninteresting, provocative, or even offensive and may react negatively to it.

How do I know what kind of Logo I am getting?

While looking at your logo ask yourself, what does this logo represent? You need to carefully examine the color; typeface, style and other elements make sure that they meet the image you want to create in your customers’ minds. You may also want to show the logo to some of your loyal customers or random people and see how well they understand the message of the logo.

Today the world has become more competitive and it is applicable for all the fields. One needs to give the best to achieve success in every business. That is very true for designing also. That is the reason that developers give extra attention to each and every segment of website while designing a website.

Website is associated with the identity of the company and logo helps the website to play that role. Always a special attention is needed to give on logo designing. Logo becomes the symbolic name of the company. So many times it happens that people forget the name but they remember the logo. That is the effect of symbol on human mind. It even helps to remember the company name.

Everyday many new brands and companies jump into a marketplace and they try to make their space. Brand building and brand loyalty helps in that effort. When people see good logo and better website they started thinking as the company gives better services than its competitors.  All this things suggests that more care is required while designing a logo for the company.

Good quality work with professional touch is all required. One should go for the professional designers for the work rather than going for the hobby designers. Professional designers have serious approach towards work and it is easy to get their work details and the past work samples.

Logo designers always do prior market research based on the product type, product market and target audience. The effective logo is that which can directly penetrate deep in the minds of the target audience on the first sight only.  It must be incorporated with good graphics and the sensible usage of colors. Different segments like automobiles, electronics, toys, medical services require the different type of logo.

In one way logo is a graphical presentation of company. So the logo is precious for the company and its image. That way companies need to secure that logo from piracy and theft. So many times rival company’s use the same logo and they rip the benefit and hard work done by others. Sometimes few companies misuse a logo also so logo must be registered. It helps against the piracy and if anyone can do that then the parent company can take legal action also.

A logo can be anything like a word or a picture or a tagline but it must be in the manner that it can represent the company or the product. A logo presents the overall image of the company and in that way extra care is given to the logo designing in the process of website designing.
