In this article we take a look at the 10 frequent mistakes that you should avoid if you want to create a professional and successful logo design.

It’s common for business owners to eagerly invest plenty of their money and time in business premises and equipment, however they are often not so eager to match it by investing a reasonable amount in their logo.

Logo Design NZ explain 5 common mistakes that businesses make when choosing a logo designer and 5 advantages of using a professional graphics company.

]]>

Below we reveal why many business logos end up looking unprofessional:

The business owner attempts to design the logo themselves in an attempt to save money.
Someone, usually a friend or relative, does it as a favor but really doesn’t know what makes a great logo.
The wrong people are involved. This is common with local printers who are not regulalrly involved in producing logo design.
The business ended with an amateur designer because they used one of several design competition websites to outsource the job.
The project was completed by a company that offers super cheap logos.

These factors usually have disastrous outcomes. A business should choose wisely when it’s looking for a new logo.

Here are the advantages of having your logo project completed by a professional logo designer:

Your logo will be unique and memorable and won’t include any clip art.
You won’t run into any problems down the line with reproducing it. Maintaining visual consistency is essential by making sure the logo looks the same in all sizes.
Your logo will have a longer lifespan and won’t need to be redesigned in a couple of years.
Your logo will look professional.
You will get the appropriate industry standard files.
Your logo designer will have experience and knowledge to use mix and match colours, fonts, layouts, and get them working together in the right proportions that give your logo and business the best chance of succeeding.

However, when it comes to web designing, many designers overlook the enigmatic power of colors. It can bring life to any image, text or graphics. It can create the atmosphere needed in order to capture the viewer’s decision and loyalty. These are the reasons why colors should be on our topmost list of things that need to be considered in mounting a web site. You don’t want a drab looking site, do you? It will appear, melancholic, chaotic, plain and boring. Thus, colors must be chosen in order to complement the site’s ambiance, feelings and purpose.

Web browsers only see 256 colors. However, there are times when the number may not appear as such because no browser shares the same 256-color pallet. Nowadays, web browsers are sharing 216 common colors. Thus, in order to complement to other web browsers, web designers must stick to the 216-color pallet. If they go beyond this color pallet, chances are the colors may not exist on other browser. In order for the browser to display that particular color, it will need tiny dots from the colors native to the browser. The process is called dithering. Unfortunately, this will result to the distortion of some tiny dots. Further, this will make the image appear speckled and without a solid color. In connection to texts, dithering will make them blurry and hard to read.

Verdict: Web designers must use browser safe color when using solid color as a design element. However, caution must be exercised.

There are times when we feel we are tricked by our eyes. In fact there is what we call mirage? An optical illusion and there is a long list of optical illusions that can otherwise trick us. But there are times when we are neither tricked or deceived in fact it is an act of science. How do this happen?

At the back of our eyes, there is a thin layer of tissue. This layer of tissue contains millions of tiny light-sensing nerve cells which are called rods and cones. Our eyes have ample decoding cones. These cones are the ones responsible for responding to specific wavelengths of light. Say, when you look at a red box, the cones that have detected the red wavelength become exhausted and fatigued. As a result, opposite cones in the eyes start to enter and different colors are made apparent.

Eye fatigue is one of the important considerations in designing a web site. Thus, avoid colors that are tiring to the eyes. It can result to disaster and can further result to giving of wrong notion or idea to the viewers. Colors like red and yellow, strains the eye faster than any other colors. Thus, limit the use of these colors. Use them on areas that need emphasis and focus. This will surely pull viewers attention. Other that those areas – a big no-no!

In case you missed it, it’s time for another wrestling games over the PlayStation 3, and this year it’s not a disappointment. Recently, it meant a lot to PSP. When I have to undergo a PSP game, is also on PS3, the portable version usually gets the short end of the stick with lousy graphics, unimaginative, and so on.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 is any of it happening, but the WWE-style presentation, ability to create your own stories, and the ring upgrades help to compensate for deficiencies.

If you’ve missed all the coverage on IGN SVR 2010 is the latest game in THQ’s annual wrestling series. This time, you get 67 Superstars and Divas, a handful of game types, and a whole bunch of modes. Road to WrestleMania (the six story-driven, character-specific stories) is back along with Create-A-Superstar honing Career Mode and roster editor which allows you to move the championships and brands with the push of a button.

But the biggest news is what’s new in this year’s edition of the game – namely, Story Designer. Last year, the game was introduced Road to WrestleMania, uber-specific stories that were focused on a particular character. This mode is back this year. The stories focused on the Edge, HBK, Mickie James, Triple H / John Cena, Randy Orton, and your Create-A-Superstar (CAS) – but Story Designer gives you all the tools to make your own adventures. You get more than 100 preset scene animations, ranging from giving a speech at a podium with a person being hit by a car to a person find a folder. You take those scenes and put whoever you want into the animation roles and then adjust the camera angles and music. From there you can enter your own text and have the Superstars / Divas say what you want them.

Want to create a story of Jericho in love with Bella Twins? CM Punk closure of the Straight Edge Lifestyle? Mark Henry is missing Mae Young? All the pieces are here for you to create these epics.

To capture these scenes, and use them to create games on calendars, which can last up to 10 years. If someone gets wailed on in a scene before a match, you can go in and put the health of the individual parts of the body. If you want a run-in, you can choose who will run in. If you want someone to lose by DQ or win by count out, you can set those rules so that the player knows what he or she do. Each belt is available to plug into a story and attributed to a given Superstar or Diva via character select screen.

Through the wire.
It’s awesome stuff. There are a few limitations – although you can go for 10 years in a story, you can only have 55 scenes and 54 matches in a story – but they are not that big of a deal. Want to create a 100-part story so often? Interestingly, this version has an upside compared to the PS3 version of SVR the 2010th Over there, you can only have 10 Created Superstar appearances in a given story. Now it’s 10 “appearances” if you use two CAS in a scene, it’s two appearances. If you used a CAS in three scenes, it’s three appearances. On the PSP, there are no such restrictions. You could have 10 years filled only with Created Superstars if you would. Sure, you can store only two stories on the PSP, which is a bit limiting.

Still, when I wrote out the Create-A-PPV plans in my high school notebook, this is what I dreamed about.

Another new thing this time is a serious effort to make this game feels like legitimate WWE programming. When you are finished selecting competitors for a fight, it flashes “World Wrestling Entertainment” before taking you to standup screen before the entrances. Choose to go on and you’re launched into the entrances. If it is a championship fight, you get the screen with the belt on it before the referee stops the title, and you’re thrown in the ring. For the first few moments of the match, show “WWE Live” logo in the bottom left corner, and when a match is over, the show copyright pops up. That ugly HUD over the past year has been dumped and replaced with a simple halo around your Superstar feet, too. You will build momentum, earn your signature move, hit it and you have the chance to hit your finisher.

These are small details that make the whole package feels a bit more solid.

This is a Must Have Calendar! The most unique Digital Calendar on the market. Grab A Copy Click here

Digital Calendar with Long Count, Day Name and Number from the Religious and Secular Calendars plus our Gregorian Calendar date. Fantastic graphics of the Mayan Days and Months. Also calendar pages with Mayan Glyphs and Numbers. Starts 12-21-2012.

This is an Adobe Acrobat document in .pdf format. It is seventy-five pages loaded with colorful graphics.

It will run on a DOS or Macintosh system. You must have Acrobat Reader 7.0 or above.
The Mayan Calendar 2012 was 15 years in the making with extensive research in color and design for the graphics.

Because the Maya were such flamboyant people, the author believes if the Priests had had computers, Mayan Art could have resenble the art in the calendar. The Maya loved color and used many vivid colors in their lives. It took much researching and planning to chose the colors and color combinations in the twenty months of the calendar. A teacher for 31+ years, the author/artist taught Academically Gifted, Math and Computer students about the Maya. Students compared contemporary times with the life of the Maya. The calendars were particulary fascinating.

The Mayan Calendar would normally end on the last day of the short month Uayab. Just like our Gregorian Calendar ends on December 31, every year and a new year begins. December 21, 2012 does not end the Mayan Calendar year naturally. 12-21-2012 is the Winter Soltice and our sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way galaxy or the “Tree of Life” as the Mayans called it. The significance of the day would be the “end of a great cycle” and not the “end of the world.” Instead, it would bring a new Awareness, consciousness or understanding.”

Time was circular to the Mayans and they were interested in new beginnings more than endings. The world is changing rapidly and all of us must learn about ourselves in order to cope with the changes that are coming. This is not a fearful time. It is a time for hopefulness. It is a time for expanding your abilities. The choice is yours to make.
